After Korea, we moved to Japan, I entered 7th grade of Zama American Middle School on Camp Zama, Kanagawa, and graduated from the High School in 1985.

School Story:

I attended 6th grade in 78-79 (I believe) and just a few months of 7th grade at the High School. I'll just write what I remember, and what I don't. :( There was a Graffiti Board, a taco stand, and we were allowed to leave the campus during lunch, which made me feel so grown up. Sometimes we would go to the Officers Club for lunch. I remember my 6th grade teacher well, but can't remember his name. He was a caucasian man, probably in his 30's; blonde hair...and his homeroom was in between 2 other classes in an upside down U shaped hut. I don't even remember what those were called. Ugh, my memory. I cherish the time I spent in Korea and Yongsan so much, however, I am so angry at myself for not being able to remember any names of the friends I had either. I remember Sheila Bryant was my very first friend. Her mother was Korean, and they lived off base. I remember being good friends with a beautiful half Japanese half American girl named Monica. She was thin and tall with short hair; very boyish but like I said, beautiful. She could have grown up to be a fashion model, but since she was intelligent, loved art and was good at it, I'm almost sure she made the most of her talent. I hope so. Another name I remember was Chuck Brambley. He was Half Korean, and a very cute boy with big ol' eyes and shiny black hair. A popular boy among the girls; maybe that's why I remember him. Suzie Baker was also a friend, but I re-connected with her in Japan, and we remain Facebook friends.
I first lived on RGH in a very high area, and at the end of our loop. We had an amazing view of Seoul from our house, as it was located at the edge of the hill.
That's probably the best view I've ever had from a house I lived in. The teen club there was called "The Blue House" but I don't remember being there much. Oh! I was also very close with a black girl named Dianne of Dianna Washington. She lived near me on RGH and we were in the same class in 6th grade. We were very close and laughed and laughed all the time. I miss her too! She belonged to a rather large family and they had adopted a beautiful Korean girl. The older sister was a few years older than my friend; maybe in her early teens. We later moved to Yongsan to an area behind the Elementary School Library. A beautiful street with trees along the road...I don't know why I hardly have any photos...just 3 or 4 of inside the house.
My father was stationed on Camp Hovey, which was connected to Camp Casey. Since it was near the DMZ they didn't allowed families living there, so my mother and I drove to see my father on the weekends. Being on Camp Hovey is another big story, but anyway, if anything I've written rings a bell, please let me know! I'd love to reminisce! Thank you in advance?
