YORK Stephen Fletcher Bachant, 56, passed away at home peacefully, with his loving wife, mother, Dugger and Owen by his side. He was the husband of Susan R. (Ward) Bachant, who would have celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary April 9th. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, with family friend, Vickie Kelly, officiating. A visitation will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. prior to the service. Born on August 3, 1955 in Washington D.C., he was a son of Virginia (Fletcher) Bachant and the late Joseph C. Bachant. Steve was a 1973 graduate of Kubasaki High School in South Korea. He was a truck driver for A. Duie Pyle for over 11 years. Mr. Bachant loved NASCAR, traveling and taking his dogs, Dugger and Owen, to John Rudy Dog Park. He loved the beaches, from the Outer Banks to the islands. Along with his wife, Susan, Steve is survived by a stepdaughter, Erika Keckler of Highspire; a brother, James Eric Bachant and his wife, Crystal of Elizabeth, Colo.; a sister, Rebecca Anne Campbell and her husband, Rick of Hopemill, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Myers, Jr. and his wife, Toni; a sister-in-law, Lynn Messersmith and her husband, Lee of Dover; and several nieces and nephews.
