Many adventures since high school: US Navy, University of Arizona, flying instructor/air ambulance pilot in and around Washington DC. Moved to NY, air traffic controller, sailing instructor, print shop manager, police dispatcher. Moved back to DC 1994, mostly worked as a software engineer for various beltway bandits since then.
My father asked me what present I wanted for my seventeenth birthday. "I want my passport and $150 cash." Traveled to Pusan by train, ferry across the Korea Strait, then train all over Japan culminating in three days in Tokyo. Spent two weeks wandering around, retraced my steps home to Seoul, and still had five bucks in my pocket! An excellent adventure!
