Kathryn (Preston) Parks 

November 2, 2016 

Kathryn Preston Parks, age 66, of Bolens Creek, passed away on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016.  She was a daughter of the late Dr. Rhea and Kitty Preston.  She was a retired probation officer with the State of Alabama who loved watching her birds, her dogs and mostly taking care of her loving husband, Daryl.   

Surviving is her loving husband, Daryl Parks and sisters: Shannon Preston of Birmingham, AL and Patsy Broadhead and husband, Jack, of Montevallo, AL.  A brother and several other family members also survive including her nephews and a niece, whom she cherished dearly. 

A service celebrating Kat's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 20th at Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Montevallo, Alabama.  Pastor Scott Fowler and Preston Broadhead will officiate.  A second service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 3rd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services in Burnsville. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Yancey County Humane Society at 962 Cane River School Road, Burnsville, NC 28714 or to your local humane society.
