My high school sweetheart that still lives in my heart! Gayle Roberts Cook '61
Paul was a brilliant scholar accepted to West Point, a terrifc athlete, wrote poetry to me that was awesome, (wish I had kept the poems) , played excellent golf and was famous for his remark "My red hair means STOP but my green eyes mean GO!"
John Knight (1961)
Ditto, Gayle.
It was only recently that I heard that my favorite upperclassman was killed in Vietnam, not too far from where I was at the same time. I had seen the names of several of my fellow classmates and upper classmates from VMI on the Vietnam Wall. Several months ago we went back there and discovered the Korean War Memorial, too. Surprise, surprise.
