Christopher Scott Godeke Have you noticed, the world's not as joyful as it was a few days ago? Christopher Scott Godeke, our wonderful son, loving father, brother and friend left this earth Wednesday, February 29, 2012. We will miss his bright smile, love and friendship terribly. Christopher was born into an Air Force family on August 1, 1972 in Wichita Falls, Texas. In his early years he had the unique experience of living in Hawaii, and South Korea. He graduated from Chantilly High School in Centerville, Virginia in 1990 and followed his family to Austin,Texas soon after. Chris joined the U. S. Army from 1996 to 1998 and was later honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in 2004. After leaving the Army Chris joined the Sunset Valley Police Department in 2001 where he proudly served until 2011. Chris is survived by his parents, Richard and Julia Godeke; brother, Rich Godeke; son, Gavin Chiles; Lisa Chiles, Gavin's mother; his dear friend Liz Wright; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; his Sunset Valley Police Department brothers and sisters; and many friends. A memorial service to celebrate Chris's life will be at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas 78745 on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the PAWS Shelter and Humane Society at 124 West Anderson Lane, Austin, Texas 78752 where Chris volunteered much of his time.
