Command Sergeant Major Alfred Henry Braswell

Command Sergeant Major Alfred Henry Braswell, age 91, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Friday, September 21, 2018 at his home.

CSM Alfred Braswell was born in Texarkana, Texas on October 16, 1926 to Thomas Clarence Braswell and Jeanie Mae Gilley Braswell. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Gene Braswell and Clarence Neil Braswell and two sisters, Virginia Braswell and Rebecca Faye Maks.

Sergeant Major Braswell served his country with distinguished courage, honor, loyalty, and pride throughout his fifty-nine years of service. He began his military career on July 7, 1945. He served faithfully in World War II, the Korean War and three tours of duty in Vietnam.

After his honorable discharge, he was selected to be the ROTC instructor in Seoul, Korea on August 5, 1981 until his retirement on January 31, 2010. He retired to Texarkana Arkansas where he lived out the rest of his life.

He is survived by his two sisters, Mary Lambert of Temple, Texas, Juanita Woolley of Owasso, Oklahoma, one brother David Braswell of New Brockton, Alabama, and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p. m. Monday at Texarkana, Arkansas Funeral Home with full military honors with Rev. Keith Ducroz officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
