Mr. Dobovsky was the PE, health, and driver's ed teacher. He had several firsts: first driver's ed, first SAHS soccer team, and first in the hearts of those he taught and coached.
He was a uncomplicated man, and that is meant in a good way. What you saw was what you got. No drama, as we would say these days. You could count on him to tell you what you needed to know in a way you knew exactly what was meant.
Mr D did come to one of the Brats of the 60s reunion. We were glad to have a chance to see him.
He was a truly dedicated professional. I understand that when he moved back to Minnesota to teach he never considered any type of administration job--he felt that he could do the most good in the classroom. He won state-wide teaching awards.
At the end of the day, he may not have been a great man--but he was a good man, and that is more important.
