Lon Burba (1967)

Ran into Regina R aka Button on the tram to the gate. It continues to be a small world for army brats. I hated to leave but was impressed by the sharp minds of these 67 year olds! Especially Joe who keeps us all on track. If I'm successful his picture will now appear(probably on its side) giving a speech.  His words were Apples of gold on a plate of silver. Or something like that.  So long to the Chosen Few. Let me fire one question out there. If the total cost is not any greater is there any support for having the next reunion on a cruise ship?

Roland Keller (1965)

If anyone can help identifying some of these folks, it would be much appreciated.  Photo was taken on the ball field on South Post (not too far from the elementary school & Gym) in the summer of 1960.  We were a "Pony" league Team made up mostly of Seoul American Middle-schoolers....about half fm Class of 65 (front row).  Peter Diffenderfer (65), I'm told, died in the 61 timeframe in a traffic accident.  Last time I checked, Murat Salahutdin (65) & Hamid Salahutdin (68) are in Florida .  Their older brother, Shaucat (62?), is in Calif.  Not sure about anyone else.  RK

Kelly Bonine (Hall) (1989)

From classmate Reg Whatley:

As some of you may know, in my spare time and in order to over come some of the health challenges that have slowed me down over the years, I have competed, particpated and eventually received much clarity physically and mentally in triathlon.

During one of my set backs approximately 20 years ago, I wished to give back to a lifestyle I embraced for so many years and began officiating triathlon. There have been many obstacles and, without doubt, some individuals personal agenda's but recently, I was very humbled and honored as the only US official and one of twenty seven in the world to be qualified, certified and selected as a Triathlon official for the upcoming 2016 Olympics in Rio.

http://go.teamusa.org/1ZxT8a8

This is a great honor, but frankly, was never a goal of mine, so the surprise was just that, a great surprise. This selection means so much, as it was through arduous and stringent qualification as well as compliance and consistency to be recognized by our National Federation, to be approved by the International Triathlon Union Technical Committee, the Sport Department, and ultimately the Executive Board of ITU.

Don't expect to see me on TV as that is one of our competencies, to be felt and not seen. I invite you all to view the womens and the mens events live on your local networks and know that I carry the banner of SAHS, in my heart.

Boa sorte para todos nós

Lyn Shaw (1962)

Many congratulations, Kelly! From your pody, I can hear that much, much hard work preceeded this honor. It's great to know that you will be our ambassador.

Best wishes, Lyn Shaw ( Carolyn), Class of '66

I do, indeed, echo the thoughts of my dear sister Lyn, posted above. Congratulations to you, Kelly for your perserverence. We are all proud of you!

Ben Colpitts (1968)

Lyn and Cindy,  it is Reg Whatley (SAHS '67) that has received the distinction of being one of two U.S. Citizes selected by the International Triathlon Union (ITU) as technical officials who will oversee and officiate the triathlon competitions at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio this summer.  Kelly was relaying the message about Reg.   Congrats Reg, but just one question.  Will you be officiating in "Barefeet"?wink

Reg Whatley (1967)

Thanks one and all.

The "Road to Rio," continues on a daily basis, you can be certain there will be photo moments when allowed. Since the selection in February our flight itineraries were made, and although the majority of the Internationals working alongside me are scheduled to return on 21 Aug, somehow flights back to So Cali were difficult, resulting in a three day extension with per diem and hotels, on Copa.

Most certainly the opportunity to take in other sporting events and venues is high on the list.

Again, mahalo and aloha to SAHS brats.

Reg

Hello SAHS Classmates;   I"m looking for LESLIE WILLIAMS, from SAHS 77,  her name today may be LESLIE CURRAN.   Thanks for any information.  She attended law school after SAHS, and became an attorney I was told.

Curtis Smith (1968)

Does anyone know of any reunions in the planning stages specifically for either the class of '67 or '68 for their 50ths coming up in the next year or two? Or would all those in those two years want to plan on coming to the "All Classes Reunion" being tenatively planned for July of next year? Just wondering. Curt Smith SAHS class of '68.

Regina Ortenzi (Button) (1967)

I think Curtis's idea of class 67/68 having a subgroup reunion within all class reunion in Wash DC July 2017 to mark our 50th would be a great plan. Anyone, any thoughts.

I wouldn't be suprised if several years don't want to set aside a time to visit within their smaller group.

Kelly Christy (Fantegrossi) (1990)

I'm curious how many 1989-1992 SAHS grads will be going to the DC reunion (Shane O. I saw that you might go).  It's been a long time since the 1990 Class Reunion in Las Vegas and I'd love to see everyone!

Will they be posting the RSVP  list so we have an idea of who will be there?
