Kel Keller (1962)
Don and I were good friends and I wish he'd made it through Vietnam. Of course, I wish the same for a lot of friends who never came back. Seems like being a soldier wasn't the safest occupation back then. That said, to the best of my knowledge, Don served with Company D, 158th Aviation Battalion, 101st Airborne Division. He was the pilot of an AH-1G Cobra gunship that crashed during a flight out of Camp Eagle, somewhere southeast of Hue in Thua Thien Province. There's more to it than that, there always is, so if you'd like to know more, send me a note. But, he wasn't a MEDEVAC pilot.
Anyway, Don’s buried in Plot A, 7143 in the Memphis National Cememtery located at 3568 Townes Ave. The cemetery used to be named the Mississippi River National Cemetery so he's in good company.
