Ted: I am ashamed to say we stopped the tradition about 8 years or so ago, though my heart lingers there often.

Don and I were good friends and I wish he'd made it through Vietnam. Of course, I wish the same for a lot of friends who never came back. Seems like being a soldier wasn't the safest occupation back then. That said, to the best of my knowledge, Don served with Company D, 158th Aviation Battalion, 101st Airborne Division. He was the pilot of an AH-1G Cobra gunship that crashed during a flight out of Camp Eagle, somewhere southeast of Hue in Thua Thien Province. There's more to it than that, there always is, so if you'd like to know more, send me a note. But, he wasn't a MEDEVAC pilot.

Anyway, Don’s buried in Plot A, 7143 in the Memphis National Cememtery located at 3568 Townes Ave. The cemetery used to be named the Mississippi River National Cemetery so he's in good company.

Kel

Kel, thanks for those details on Don.  Ironic that I was in Vietnam about then, reporting for the Japan Times, flying in a Cobra.  Cindy, it's terrific you and Lynn visited him at the wall so regularly.  He was a great guy.

Sheridan, I think there were quite a few of us there around the same time frame. It would make sense given our mutually-shared high school year groups. I got there in October of 1968 and left a year later so we could have held a mini, in-country, reunion (smiling). I never got to fly in a Cobra - thank heaven! - but as a Medical Service Corps Officer, I spent enough time in Medevac Hueys to convince me that keeping my feet on terra-firma was better!

And, I too, appreciate Lyn and Cindy's dedication and devotion, more than it will ever be possible for them to know!

Kel

Laura Schultz (Nix) (1964)

Hello everyone!

I was in the indoor tennis facility at Army Navy Country Club not long ago and Sherry Pressey was playing on the court next to me.  Small world!  I recognized her immediately.  She gave me this web site.

Ted, where is Wayne Siglio?

I've been living in Fairfax VA for the last 32 years.  My husband is retired Air Force and we raised two sons.  Trey is an electrical engineer/computer architect from University of Michigan who works for EMC .  He lives in Union KY with 4 children.  My youngest son, Christian, is still single and is an acupuncturist/Chinese medical doctor working on a cruise ship.  He graduated from UVA in 1995 and was one of 4 soccer players to win 4 NCAA championship rings.?

I sure would like to hear from anyone in the class from 1964.  Where are you Anne Marie McDevitt and Jim McDevitt?  Let's connect.

Ted Green (1962)

Laura, good to now be back in touch. Wayne and I became good friends again, in Wash. DC in the 1980s. Give me your e-mail (well, my e-mail is below) and I will tell you details of his later life and death--and his appearance to me several hours after his body died. Yes, a true supernatural experience. (It is poorly summarized in Sophy Burnham's otherwise good book, Intuition) (plus she spells my name wrong).

I remember you well. Do you happen to have a way to connect with Janet Peart?  Or Carol Muir? I live in DC and my e-mail is egreendc@gmail.com    I can send the Wayne story to anyone else who didnt see the post about Wayne's deah I made a couple of years ago.

Hi Ted,

I wish I knew where Janet Peart, Carol or Barbara Muir are.  I was good friends with the all in Korea.

Here's my email address.

ltnix46@aol.com

I would love to know the details of Wayne.  My dad is still alive, 97, and would love to know also.

Thanks,

Laura

OK, I will repond today to Laura and Cindy about Wayne Sigleo. I think about him quite often & still miss him. So sad we lost Claudia Chaille and Sharon DaSilva too. Claudia was also good friends with Wayne.

Hey Rick and bill and Keith and buddy and thumper where r u guys?  If u want to know where the reunions at...it's At lanta. ( to be honest I always thought a dangling participle was either a limp vegetable or something that hung from ur roof when it snowed ).  Sorry the picture is on its side but the winds blowing hard down here. I guess I blew it.

How many came? How many I would know? I am on the way to Istanbul.

Buddy Wootten (1967)

Hey Lon sorry I am missing this one-I have attended everyone except Hawaii! I had to take my wife to the beach for her birthday. She has been very stressed lately and needed the beach! Who is there? You need to come to Nashville - would love to see you.

Lon Burba (1967)

Hey buddy. It's a no brainer. If I had a chance to escort a good looking bikini clad woman to the beach vrs trading war stories with a bunch of old geezers I know what I'd do. So don ur speedo and don't forget the nitroglycerin(not the explosive kind...the medicinal variety). I was gonna say Viagra but that would be too crass for a man of ur stature.

Keith what r u doin in Istanbul when u could be in Atlanta with me. Take a selfie riding a camel and post it on this message board. I just thought of something. If a Spanish citizen is a spaniard and a British citizen is a Britain then is a Turkish citizen a turkey?  Ask em that while ur over there. But I don't blame u. If I had a once in a lifetime chance to go on a dream vacation any where in the world like you...Istanbul would certainly be on My short list. Great choice. U always were the smartest  guy in the class.

Lon Burba (1967)

In fact Keith next year u might take ur dream vacation in Afghanistan or karakistan or sunny kazikistan. But I'm going to stop here because I can't stan(d) it any more and besides this Is Stan bull where u r now. When u take that picture riding a camel I want to see good form. No holding on to the hump or anything. As u can tell we r having a good time at the reunion. Everyone here mentioned u and wished u well. Good night old friend.

Hey Lon so everyone missed Keith!?!?

10/11/15 08:37 AM #157

Lon Burba (1967)

Buddy u r clearly held in the highest esteem by our class as u were in 1966. Keith couldn't touch the sole of ur shoe. In fact we heard over and over "if I had known Buddy wasn't gonna be there I wouldn't have come. ". I just can't pass up an opportunity to harass Keith. :-) but u will always be everyone's Buddy.
